Unanimously Approved: 14 October 1998

EFC WEBMASTER POLICY

Purpose: The EFC website will post official EFC documents and related School of Engineering documents
both to inform the faculty of EFC decisions and actions and to archive the formal proceedings of the EFC.
A.      Selection of Webmaster

1.      The Webmaster must be a full-time faculty in the School of Engineering.

2.      At the start of each year the EFC Chair will call for Webmaster nominations and will call for
an EFC vote on the Webmaster nominees.

3.      All and only EFC members can nominate a Webmaster. An EFC member other than the EFC nominator
must second the nomination.

4.      The EFC shall elect the Webmaster by simple majority vote.

5.      The Webmaster’s term shall run through the school year and following summer until the first
EFC meeting of the school year provided this term does not exceed one year.

6.      The EFC can remove the Webmaster at any time through a majority vote.
B.      Webmaster Duties

1.        The Webmaster and EFC Chair and Vice-Chair will maintain the EFC website as the Executive Editorial
Committee. They will post only non-confidential EFC documents in accord with C. 1 C.7 below. Only EFC
members may submit such documents for posting.

2.         The Webmaster will keep a log of all posts and will give a copy of this log to EFC chair each month.
C.     Discretionary Plan

1.        The Webmaster and EFC Chair and Vice-Chair will not post any material that they believe is (1) obscene,
(2) defamatory, (3) libelous, or (4) not School related. Any member of the Executive Editorial Committee,
after due discussion with the other members of the Executive Editorial Committee, may block
the posting of material that they feel is (1) obscene, (2) defamatory, (3) libelous, or (4) not School related.

2.        The Webmaster will immediately present the unposted material from C. 1 above to the EFC Chair along
with a written explanation why the Webmaster believes that this material is obscene, defamatory, libelous, or not School related.

3.        The EFC Chair will immediately provide copies of all unposted materials received from the Webmaster
per C. 1 – C.2 above to all EFC members.

4.        The EFC will either conduct a special meeting to vote on whether to uphold the Webmaster’s decision
or wait to act until the next monthly EFC meeting.

5.        The EFC will vote on whether to uphold the Webmaster’s decision on each unposted item or document. A
simple majority vote of the EFC will decide the outcome.

6.        The EFC will make every effort to vote on the final status of any item or document that the Webmaster
does not post per C. 1 – C.2 above. If the EFC fails to vote on whether to post an item or document
by the second monthly meeting after the Webmaster first acts not to post the item or document, or
for a term of 60 days after the Webmaster takes such action, whichever length of time is shorter, then
the Webmaster will immediately post the item on the EFC website.

7.        The EFC can decide by majority vote the length of time that an item or document will remain on the EFC website.
